On June 24, 2023, the adh-Open took place in Karlsruhe in the discipline of rugby, which included both a men's and a women's tournament. A total of seven women's and ten men's teams competed against each other on the two rugby pitches of Karlsruher SV to win the tournament.

In the women's tournament, the University of Münster was able to secure first place in a thrilling final against the RWTH Aachen and FU Berlin teams and take home the title. The men's tournament was also exciting, with the team from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology narrowly beating the University of Hanover in the semi-final and finally winning the tournament against RWTH Aachen University in the final.

In addition to the sporting achievements, the weather was also a decisive factor on the day. The midsummer temperatures placed an additional burden on the players and referees on the pitch. Nevertheless, they did not let this affect them and delivered fair encounters with opponents and referees.
