On Sunday, 18.06.2023 the DHM intermediate round soccer men took place in Bochum. The KIT footballers set off for Bochum at around 7:30 in the morning. Three teams were registered. In the three-player mode: everyone against everyone, the 1st and 2nd places were played for. These teams would go through to the final round.

As hosts, WG Bochum started the first game against WG Oldenburg. Bochum were clearly the stronger team, but missed several top-class scoring opportunities. In the end, they were punished by WG Oldenburg, who took a 0:1 lead and went on to win the game.

In the second game, Bochum therefore had to take a point with them if they were to have any hope of progressing. They got off to a very good start against WG Karlsruhe and took an early 1:0 lead. At the start of the second half, Karlsruhe turned up the heat and changed the score to 1:3 within a few minutes. In the end, Karlsruhe secured their progression with a 4:6 win after an open exchange of blows. Bochum were thus eliminated.

Karlsruhe and Oldenburg met in the final game. The only thing at stake here was the final ranking, as both teams had already qualified for the final round. Both teams therefore played with their sights wide open. WG Karlsruhe initially fell 1:0 behind again, but this woke them up and they were the dominant team for the rest of the game. In the end, they prevailed again by 6:4. This result seemed to suit the team from Karlsruhe.

WG Karlsruhe & WG Oldenburg thus qualified for the final round on 01 & 02.07.23 in Munich, as did WG Munich and WG Darmstadt (in the parallel tournament).
