On 16.06.2024, the ADH Cup Road Bike was held as part of the "Campus Pedal" event at the TU Ilmenau. According to the organizers, a "technically demanding course" of 1.6 km in length had to be completed a total of 30 times. The total distance was 48 km and 900 meters in altitude, spread over very short, crisp climbs.

The KIT team consisted of Adrian Kröger, Jakob Schrimpf, Felix Weik and Vanessa Weiß. After an illness, Marietta Holzer was not yet fit enough to take part in the race as planned, but she came along as a supporter and actively cheered on from the side of the course!

After the first few laps, Felix and Adrian put in a brave attack, but were caught up again by the field after a few minutes.

Meanwhile, Vanessa was able to prevail against the other female participants and shake off the last remaining female rider halfway through the race. This enabled her to secure 1st place in the overall women's classification and in the ADH classification.

"It was a bit like driving a go-cart," commented Felix Weik after the race, who fought his way back to 3rd place after a slight crash in a bend! Adrian and Jakob finished 5th and 7th overall.

Overall, everyone was satisfied with their performance. The team was particularly pleased that the university racing bike sport has now gained a certain level of recognition at other universities and has been described as "awesome".

On July 21, the men's team will be competing again at the DHM at the Nürburgring and will do their best to maintain this image.
