On 03.05.2024, the preliminary round of the DHM in men's volleyball took place here in Karlsruhe. The aim was to also qualify the second team for the final round in Stralsund, as our first team had already qualified due to winning the DHM last year.

In our first match, we faced Darmstadt, who later finished first in the preliminary round. We were able to keep up well and didn't concede a point without a fight, but in the end it wasn't enough and we suffered a 2-0 defeat.

In the second match, we played Freiburg, who had traveled with several first division players. In the first set, we were able to keep the lead until the score was 24:22. However, we lost the set 24:26 after Freiburg changed players. In the second set, Freiburg were well-rehearsed and didn't give us another chance.

In our last match, there was nothing at stake for us, but we still wanted to get at least one win. However, it didn't work out as we had hoped. We were too confident of victory in the first set and had to concede it. We fought our way back in the second set and won it by a narrow margin. After three matches and a whole day in the hall, we lacked strength in the third set and had to concede this one too.

Even though we weren't able to win a game, we are motivated to try again next year and achieve a better ranking with better preparation. Fortunately, we will be represented by our first men's team and the ladies in Stralsund. We wish them every success.
