DHM Underwater Rugby in Darmstadt
After a year without a university championship in underwater rugby (UWR), the Technical University of Darmstadt hosted the tournament in 2018.
On June 30 and July 1, the KIT team competed with ten other teams for victory and a plaque on the challenge cup.
For half of the Karlsruhe players, it was the first UWR tournament of their careers. Accordingly, the team first had to come together in the games on Saturday and, in addition to two defeats, managed to secure a draw against Stuttgart and a win against Hamburg.
On Sunday, the tournament schedule led to further matches against Vienna and Mainz, against whom they had suffered defeats the day before. However, the now consolidated KIT team was able to prevail against both teams and in the end made up two places after a total of four games in a row. With a sixth place, the team was able to return home satisfied.
