KIT Futsalers visit Rome for the EVROROMA MMXIII
The KIT also sent athletes to the starting line. Nine footballers from the fan-shaped city played for the coveted futsal crown. The boys arrived the day before the tournament started in order to adapt to the climatic conditions. This was achieved particularly well with refreshing drinks from various sponsors. The next day, the team from the fan-shaped city made their way through Rome to explore the sights.
In the afternoon, the tournament started against St. Gallen. After some initial difficulties, we got into our stride and ended up with a well-deserved victory.
We got into our stride on the second day of the tournament. Lille and Algeria came under pressure and were sent home with 8:1 and 7:1 respectively. We ended the preliminary round with three wins from three games and a goal difference of 17:3.
This was duly celebrated in the evening at the organized toga party.
Buoyed by the euphoria of the evening, Prishtina were nevertheless swept off the pitch 3:1 in the round of 16. The team was therefore through to the quarter-finals.
Slowly, however, the wear and tear became noticeable. They were unlucky to be eliminated in the quarter-finals against the eventual tournament winners. In the end, they finished in a proud fifth place out of a field of 32 teams.
Team captain Benjamin: "We would like to thank KIT for the great tracksuits and outstanding jerseys, Alberto's super organization, Italy for the excellent food and drink, our coaching staff and support staff, RyanAir for the relaxing flights and the whole team for the unforgettable days and nights in Rome."
