Two 5th places for taekwondo fighters Wolf and Zhou

  • Datum: 05.08.2024
  • Kaize Zhou and Jessica Wolf, both in the duel taekwondo division, were able to fight their way to 5th place. After a confident win in the round of 16, Jessica missed the chance of a medal after two close rounds (6:8; 8:8). Kaize was also beaten in the quarter-finals by a more experienced opponent from Portugal.

In addition to the sporting competitions, the exchange with the other athletes from all over Europe was particularly memorable. It was exciting to not only gain an insight into their own sport at an international level, but also into other sports such as beach volleyball and tennis. But the team spirit, the training before the competitions, the joint lunches and evenings with the German taekwondo delegation were also great fun.

A great end to the six days in Miskolc was the last evening, when all the athletes and coaches came together again and the competitions were successfully celebrated in the "fun zone". Despite narrowly missing out on a medal, it was a memorable experience overall. The gathering of student athletes from different sports and from all over Europe created a great and unique atmosphere.

We would like to thank the KIT University Sports Department for making it possible for us to participate, as well as the adh Taekwondo representatives who supported and coached us in Hungary. The aim will be to qualify for the European University Combat Championships 2025 at the next DHM in Jena. Jessica also has the opportunity to qualify for the FISU World University Games 2025 if she does well.
