Since 2016, the International Day of University Sport (IDUS) has been held annually on September 20. IDUS was launched by UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
The aim of IDUS is to raise awareness of sport, physical activity and healthy lifestyles worldwide through various activities at university level. The aim is also to get as many students and staff as possible moving through university sport.
By bundling the IDUS activities of individual university sports facilities and international university sports associations that are member organizations of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), university sports can use the IDUS to draw attention to current issues and convey their concerns.
The IDUS also offers an international platform for the exchange of ideas, experiences, challenges and opportunities in and through university sport.
