On Sunday, 02.07.2023, the DHM final round of men's soccer took place in Munich. The KIT footballers set off for Munich at around 3 p.m. on Saturday. The game was played on Sunday from 10 a.m. on the grounds of the Central University Sports Center (TUM campus in the Olympic Park). After the Oldenburg team canceled at short notice, three teams were entered. Everyone played against everyone else. The best-placed team would win the tournament and travel to the European Championships in Hungary in 2024.

As the hosts, WG Munich started the first game against WG Darmstadt. The Munich team was slightly stronger at the start. However, Darmstadt were awarded a penalty after a few minutes and took the lead. After the Munich team scored the equalizer a few minutes later, also from a penalty, Darmstadt took the lead again on a counterattack. In the end, WG Munich turned the game around and won 3:2.

In the second game, the team from Darmstadt therefore had to achieve a good result with a win to keep their chance of winning the tournament alive. WG Karlsruhe got off to a flying start and led 1:0 within a few minutes, and even 2:0 after 12 minutes. At the break, the Karlsruhe team increased the score to 4:0. In the second half, they continued where they had left off. Shortly before the end, the score was 9:0 with many beautiful goals. The best goal, however, was Darmstadt's consolation goal, which was scored from around 35 meters. In the end, the score was 9:1.

In the last game, the hosts from Munich and Karlsruhe faced off. Due to their superior goal difference, a draw would be enough for Karlsruhe to win the tournament. However, Karlsruhe also played to win. Both teams were very present in the duels and were loudly supported from the outside. WG Karlsruhe took the lead after some great action. A short time later, the fighting Munich team equalized. In the end, the Karlsruhe team won 4:1 and secured the tournament victory. They can now travel to Hungary for the 2024 European Championship.
