On October 15, 2024, KIT University Sports opened its doors for the seventh HSP Kickoff. The event attracted numerous students, employees and interested parties who wanted to find out more about the wide range of sports opportunities on offer. With a wide range of interactive hands-on activities and informative stands, the winter semester 2024/2025 was opened by more than 25 participating departments.

Visitors were presented with a wide range of sports, including acrobatics, American football, unicycle, floorball, forró, headis, karate, climbing, lacrosse, athletics, mountain biking, pickleball, horse riding, roundnet, rugby, sailing, alpine skiing, table soccer, trampoline, ultimate frisbee, floorball and underwater rugby. The departments demonstrated the diversity and attractiveness of the university sports program through their great commitment and enabled participants to get to know their sports in a fun way.

In addition to the sports activities, the Student Health Lab of the IfSS and the international buddy program of the KIT were also represented with interactive information stands. The walk-in health center organized a pull-up challenge with attractive prizes to be won. Best performances were achieved in the following categories:

Women - non-members: 10 repetitions

Women - walk-in members: 9.5 repetitions

Men - non-members: 22 repetitions

Men - walk-in members: 19 repetitions

Another highlight was the sports equipment flea market, which took place for the second time, as well as the delicious waffles from the university sports team. The fundraising campaign was particularly pleasing, with a record sum of €271.82 being collected and donated to the Arche Karlsruhe e.V. children's and youth charity.

After this successful start to the 2024/2025 winter semester, the organization team is already looking forward to the next edition of the HSP Kickoff.
