KIT Karate Team successful at DHM 2012
On October 21, 2012, the German University Karate Championships were held in Maintal, Hesse, with almost 150 competitors from a total of 53 universities. For the University of Karlsruhe, state squad athlete Christopher Mack competed in the category 'Kata Single Men'.
Out of a starting field of 37 students in total, he was able to make his way to the top, earning himself a spot on the podium.
In the fourth round he faced the national squad athlete Jan Urke. Both athletes demonstrated very high Shotokan katas. In this encounter, the sports student lost to the future German university champion, but then managed to secure 3rd place in the following consolation round.
"The goal was a placement among the top 3, which I also achieved!", Christopher expressed. This result thus forms a successful end to the 2012 season for the karate athlete, and his trainer and support team are delighted with him for this excellent result.
Due to his placement, he qualifies for the European Universities Karate Championship (European student championship), for which the Karlsruhe resident takes the long way to Budapest/Hungary.
